A guild for the emerging craft of AI prompting

Built around standards and structure.

What The Promptists is

The Promptists is a professional guild for people who work seriously with AI - creatives, prompt engineers, system designers, and practitioners who treat prompting as a craft rather than a shortcut.

We exist to bring structure to a fast-moving discipline that has outgrown informal sharing and improvised workflows. As AI tools become embedded in real creative and commercial work, the need for shared standards, common language, and professional accountability becomes unavoidable.

The Promptists provides that structure; where skill is developed properly, recognised clearly, and applied responsibly.

Why it exists

AI prompting didn't begin as a profession. It emerged through experimentation - individuals working things out in isolation, sharing fragments of what worked, and iterating in public.

That phase was necessary. It's no longer sufficient.

As organisations, brands, and studios increasingly rely on AI-driven work, they need practitioners they can trust - people who understand systems, limitations, and consequences, not just surface-level techniques.

The Promptists exists to bridge that gap: transforming an emerging practice into a professional discipline.

The origin story

The Promptists grew out of real-world practice, not theory.

Our founder, Ohneis is widely recognised as a leader of the modern AI prompting movement. His structured prompting systems - shared openly through his work and teaching - have shaped how thousands of creators, designers, and studios now approach AI as a professional tool.

His courses now form the foundation of the Promptists Learn & Earn pathway, through which new Promptists develop core competence, earn accreditation, and enter the guild with a shared understanding of how professional AI prompting works.

Ohneis remains actively involved in shaping the standards and learning frameworks that support the community, ensuring they remain grounded in practical use, not abstraction.

How It Works

The Promptists is structured around three principles

Learning

Promptists develop their skills through systems-based education that prioritises consistency, judgment, and professional application.

Recognition

Competence is acknowledged through Promptist Accreditation - a signal of readiness, not a promise of outcomes.

Application

Accredited Promptists can apply their skills within a trusted professional context, working with clients who value structure, clarity, and responsibility.

This approach avoids the chaos of open marketplaces while preserving individual creativity and independence.

Who it's for

The Promptists is for people who take AI-led creativity seriously.

That includes:

  • creatives transitioning into AI-supported workflows
  • prompt engineers and system builders
  • designers, filmmakers, and brand practitioners
  • organisations seeking structured, professional AI capability

It is not designed for experimentation without accountability, or for shortcut-driven output.

A discipline taking shape

Every new craft goes through a period of improvisation before standards emerge.

AI prompting is entering that moment.

The Promptists exists to help shape it - thoughtfully, responsibly, and in public - so that the people doing the work can be trusted, supported, and recognised for what they actually know how to do.
